A baby was sick for two days after being given milk bought from Tesco which was 10 months out of date.
Jerri Lee, a photographer from Chigwell Row, purchased the milk from the store in Barkingside and fed her two-month-old daughter Milan.
Miss Lee said: “I was very angry. I trust stores to sell in date products.
“I didn’t feel a store would be so careless with baby products.
“It is totally unacceptable for 10 month out of date liquid to still be on the shelves of a trusted store.”
Milan began vomiting on taking the milk and was seen by a doctor who confirmed she was sufferring from an upset stomach which he believed was caused by the milk.
Miss Lee raised concerns with the store the following day and received a refund.
A Tesco spokeswoman said: “We checked immediately and found no other bottles on sale that were out of date.
“We apologised to the customer and offered her a gesture of goodwill when she first contacted us.”
Miss Lee said: “Tesco said they were sending an apology and a £10 gift card which I did not receive, so I complained again in December.
“I only got the apology after the media have reported the incident.”
She continued: “I wanted to know that the store was going to be investigated and the proper standards met.”
She added: “I always check the dates now and will stick to buying baby products from Boots.
“I can safely say I will not be shopping at Tesco.
A Tesco spokeswoman said: “We are taking this matter very seriously and are urgently investigating how this has happened.”
