A showcase of 1950’s fashion is due to be launched next week.

The exhibition, entitled 1950s Fashion: A Decade of Glamour, is the first in a series of regional touring exhibitions produced by Epping Forest District Museum in Sun Street, Waltham Abbey, and funded by the Arts Council England.

The exhibition will highlight the everyday styles of the period alongside more outlandish outfits.

It will also show the creation of celebrity outfits and how they were adapted to be worn by high street shoppers.

The pieces come from museums across the east of England and include a tailor-made Teddy Boy suit, huge swirling skirts and an evening ball gown.

The show runs from January 11 to March 15 at Lowewood Museum in High Street, Hoddesdon.
