A flood alert remains in place for the Lower River Roding after it was issued by the Environment Agency last night.
Wet and windy weather over the past two days means water levels have steadily risen.
The agency has warned flooding to lower lying land, roads and gardens near the river is possible.
Areas at risk include South Woodford, Woodford Green, Wanstead, Ilford, East Ham and Barking.
The worst of the weather is expected to have cleared by the end of this afteroon, but further rain is expected tomorrow.
