A woman trapped in her vehicle after colliding with a wall and lamp post has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.

The 49-year-old was cut free of her black Vauxhall Corsa by firefighters following the collision at Alderton Hill in Loughton at 7:30pm yesterday.

An ambulance crew arrived at the scene one hour before the fire services and police arrived.

The driver received treatment at the scene for a serious shoulder injury before being taken to Whipps Cross Hospital.

She was later arrested at the hospital where she remains on suspicion of drink driving and has been bailed until March 16.
