A man lost an eye after being attacked on New Year's Day.

Police were called to Walthamstow McDonalds in Hoe Street on January 1 just after 8am following reports of a group of men assaulting a customer.

The 51-year-old victim was taken to an east London hospital where his left eye was removed as a result of his injuries.

Two men have been charged in connection with the assault

Kingsley Gordon-Allen, 20, of Ashville Road in Leytonstone, was arrested on January 2 and charged the next day with wounding with intent and possessing cannabis with intent to supply.

Ashton King, 21, of Boundary Road in Walthamstow, was arrested on January 5 and charged yesterday with wounding with intent, handling stolen goods and possessing cannabis with intent to supply.

King is due to appear at Thames Magistrates Court today, and Gordon-Allen has been remanded in custody to attend Snaresbrook Magistrates Court on January 17.
