An ambulance caught fire yesterday afternoon in Ongar.
Firefighters in special breathing equipment were on hand quickly as the vehicle was parked in the yard of Ongar Fire Station, in the High Street, which is shared by fire and ambulance services.
The fire was described by Essex County Fire and Rescue Service as " a small fire in the engine compartment".
The blaze was reported at 3.52pm and put out by 4.07pm.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
