A trial of the use of cameras by police attending reports of domestic violence will begin later this month.
A total of 80 Essex police officers will wear the cameras to gather evidence for three months from January 19.
Chief Inspector Nick Lee said: “We want to find out if video evidence will lead to more convictions for domestic violence and in particular cases where victims are too frightened to give evidence themselves."
