A school could expand by a total of 210 places under plans to be discussed this week.

Essex County Council is currently looking to dramatically increase intake at Alderton Infant and Junior School and Alderton Junior Schoo,l in Alderton Hall Lane, Loughton,  to cope with projected demand.

The plans will be presented at a public meeting at the school on Thursday, between 2.45pm and 6.30pm.

The proposal for the infant school, which would see intake increase from 180 to 270, includes two new classrooms, a group room, an accessible toilet, a reception office and external changes.

The junior school proposal includes a new library, two new group rooms and the refurbishment of four classrooms, enabling an increase from 240 places to 360.

Squeezing in an extra couple of hundred children into a school where the parking at drop off and pick up time is already a nightmare seems to be a rather stupid decision.
