Independent businesses were given the opportunity to showcase their work at an event aimed at boosting the local economy.

Keep it Local was held at Waltham Abbey Town Hall, in Highbridge Street, on Saturday and gave visitors the chance to find out more about 50 firms in the area.

The event was organised by former Waltham Abbey Residents Association members Sue Calvert and Jo Rata.

Mrs Calvert, 43, said: “The event is trying to bring the community together and let local people see what is on their doorstep.

“It’s important to shop locally in order to keep trades going and give a boost to the local economy.”

Well done to Sue Calvert and Jo Rata for organising this event, looks to have been a great success, we could do with more of these event around Essex to get more local people involved with the business on their doorstop. Excellent idea.
