Staff at a sports centre have organised a fundraising night after their colleague’s three-year-old daughter was diagnosed with cancer.
Epping Sports Centre is to host a quiz night for the Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group (CCLG) in support of Chris McCarty and his family.
Ava McCarty is currently undergoing intensive chemotherapy and radiotherapy after being diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2012.
Everyone Active General Manager Kim Bames said:“She (Ava) is a wonderful and brave little girl who’s gone through more than most at her age. All proceeds from the event will be donated to CCLG to support their research and clinical trials.
“Since 1975, their efforts have helped to increase the survival rate for children with cancer and leukaemia from just 10 percent to around 75 percent, so please enter a team and donate.”
The quiz night will take place at the centre on January 24 from 7.30pm.
Teams of eight members and non-members aged over 18 are encouraged and tickets cost just £10 per person including a fish and chip supper.
Teams should be registered at the centre’s reception or by email at cassiemoritmer@everyoneactive.com.
