Young choristers are preparing for a performance in the O2.

Pupils at St Andrew’s Primary School in North Weald are practising to be pitch perfect come January 31 when they will perform at the Greenwich venue for the sixth year in a row.

The 26-strong ensemble made up of nine to 11-year-olds will be part of a concert involving 7,000 other children at the event.

Music teacher, Sarah Cochrane, said: “The children are really excited. It will be amazing for them to sing at the O2 in front of a really supportive audience.

“We’ve been rehearsing since September but you never feel quite ready.

“There are a few dance moves we need to put together too so that they’re up to scratch for the performance.”

The students will be performing a mixture of medleys covering genres including pop and folk and will also give a rendition of the Mary Poppins song Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

The annual event is organised by Young Voices, an organisation which aims to inspire children to learn about and enjoy music across the country.
