The Olympic Park’s Aquatics Centre will open in March for the first time since the games it has been announced.

The London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) say the facitlity will be available for public swimming and events from March 1.

The southern section of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, including an area of landscaping connecting the main entrance to the VeloPark, will open on April 5.

The Olympic Stadium will not open to the public until 2016, although it will host five matches at the Rugby World Cup in 2015.

Anish Kapoor’s 114.5m Orbit tower will also open in April, with ticket prices to be announced this month.

Swimming prices will start at £4.50 per session.

The Aquatic Centre, which will host the 2014 Diving World Series, has two 50m pools, a diving pool and a new gym.
