A short film shot in Walthamstow will screen at the London Short Film Festival (LSFF) on Saturday.

Produced by Walthamstow resident Marcie MacLellan, Off Yer ‘Ead stars This Is England actor Andrew Shim.

Shot at locations including The Nags Head pub in Orford Road, Walthamstow Village, and Shernhall Street, writer and director Dan Kokotajlo says the film is about a young deaf woman, played by deaf actress Aliya Gulamani, struggling to connect with a man she meets on a smartphone dating app, Andrew Shim.

“Each scene is acted out using improv[isation] techniques in whole takes,” Mr Kokotajlo said.

“No editing or cutting away, just raw, truthful performances.”

Off Yer ‘Ead is being screened at a matinee of romantic dramas at the Rio Cinema in Kingsland Road, Dalston, at 1.30pm on Saturday.
