A golf club has raised over £3,000 for a local charity in the first two weeks of its fundraising year.

Wanstead Golf Club, in Overton Drive, raised an initial £2,000 as the club's new captain, Tony Mansfield, teed off at an event to mark the start of the year.

Professional golfer Simon Khan later visited to auction a signed golf bag for £1,000.

Money raised wil go to The Dream Factory, which grants wishes for seriously ill children.
