A hapless radiographer who scanned the wrong part of two patient’s bodies has been struck off.

Leonard Odu tried to cover up the mistake while working for Barking, Havering and Redbridge Hospitals Trust.

He did not properly check the identity of two patients and then mixed up their scans.

In an attempt to conceal his mistake, he then deleted the CT scan and asked a colleague to delete images from a storage system.

It was the second time in two years Mr Odu had made an identification mistake and had received training to deal with it while working at Queen’s Hospital in Romford.

Colin Allies, chairman of the Health and Care Professions Council’s disciplinary panel, said the mistakes “had the potential of causing patient harm.”
