Drivers are being warned to take precautions whilst on Essex roads after another night of heavy rain.

Essex Police is asking drivers to go steady this morning after many of the county’s roads have become water logged.

Motorists are being advised to slow down and keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front of them.

Police are telling drivers to choose a low gear and not attempt to drive through water that is fast flowing or too deep as driving too fast, even in relatively shallow water, can cause water to be ingested into the engine.

Roads in Epping Forest around the River Roding have experienced flooding in the last two weeks.
