Disabled teenagers will be given the opportunity to play a variety of instruments and make music at a specially tailored event this Saturday.

A Family Music Day will be held at the Zinc Arts Centre in High Street, Chipping Ongar, from 10am until 3pm.

The event, funded by MusicNet, Youth Music and Essex County Council, is designed for mild to moderate learning disabled 12 to 18-year-olds.

A residential course is also being finalised at the centre in spring along with monthly workshops.

A spokeswoman for Zinc Arts said: β€œIt’s an exciting opportunity for learning disabled young people to experience music in a completely fun-filled and accessible way, and even more special that they get to share this experience with their families.”

To register for a place, at the Family Music Day visit www.zincarts.org.uk or call Clare Wilson on 01277 365 626.
