Two teenagers have been charged with robbing an 11-year-old boy at knifepoint.
Police say the boy was robbed of his mobile phone in Brooker Road, Waltham Abbey, on Thursday afternoon.
After the incident members of the public detained two boys, who were arrested on suspicion of robbery when officers arrived just before 5.30pm.
After being taken to Harlow police station for questioning they were formally charged.
A 14-year-old from Enfield was charged with robbery, possession of a knife and criminal damage.
A 16-year-old boy also from Enfield was charged with robbery and possession of a knife.
Both were released on bail to appear at Chelmsford Youth Court on February 14.
