Two teenagers have been charged with robbing an 11-year-old boy at knifepoint.

Police say the boy was robbed of his mobile phone in Brooker Road, Waltham Abbey, on Thursday afternoon.

After the incident members of the public detained two boys, who were arrested on suspicion of robbery when officers arrived just before 5.30pm.

After being taken to Harlow police station for questioning they were formally charged.

A 14-year-old from Enfield was charged with robbery, possession of a knife and criminal damage.

A 16-year-old boy also from Enfield was charged with robbery and possession of a knife.

Both were released on bail to appear at Chelmsford Youth Court on February 14.

Being told that you were naughty is no deterrent.
Isn't it time to bring back corporal punishment for those that would / intend to do harm ?
Public embarrassment would be a great deterrent.
Human rights has weakened our judiciary system.

Too True Westside. There was talk of a campaign a while back to start getting tough with these knife thugs, but the message didn't get through to the people who could do something-magistrate
s and judges. Now that these no-hopers know they get let off, they are pushing the boundaries and waving guns around in the streets.
