Police have arrested four men in connection with the daylight burglary of a flat.

Police were called to Courtland Close in the Orchard Estate, Woodford Green, following reports of a burglary at 4pm on January 20.

A group of men had forced entry into a flat through the front door and smashed a back window to steal a plasma television and a Playstation 3 console.

Minutes after the break-in, police arrived at the scene and detained two of the suspects.

Based on witness reports, the police headed towards Blenheim Court where they recovered the stolen items on the landing of a first floor flat.

Two men, aged 21 and 18, from Woodford Green and an 18 year old man from Ilford were arrested on suspicion of burglary.

A 22-year-old man from Forest Gate described by police as a 'prolific burglar' and one of the top five burglars in Redbridge was among the four men arrested.

He appeared at Barkingside Magistrates Court on January 22, where he has been remanded in custody to appear at a later date.

All other suspects have been bailed until March 19 pending forensic tests.
