A tracker on a stolen vehicle has led police to discover a large amount of cannabis.

Police traced a stolen Mercedes to a business premises in Ilford Lane on January 23.

Upon arriving at 5:30pm, police arrested a 59 year-old man from Newham for handling stolen goods.

The police then searched the prermises in a bid to find the keys of the stolen car and instead found two large containers in an office.

Inside the containers was a large quantity of individual bags of cannabis in black bin liners, police say.

The suspect denied any knowledge of the drugs but was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B cannabis.

Police say they also uncovered a substantial amount of car parts, a quad bike and a motorbike reported stolen from Henley Road in Ilford.

The investigation is ongoing and the man has been bailed until April 15 pending further enquiries.
