A dentist is launching a children’s dental club after it was revealed that 33 per cent of London’s five-year-olds are suffering from tooth decay.

The Bluebell Dental Practice in Tomswood Hill, Woodford Bridge, will begin their Saturday Kidz Club on February 1, in order to make more people aware of the rise in tooth decay, reported by Public Health England in September.

As well as teaching children how to look after their teeth through games and quizzes, the practice is aiming to raise awareness of the fact that free check-ups and treatments are available to under-18s from the NHS.

Dr Suki Shakhti, a dentist at Bluebell Dental Practice, said: “The recent survey is one of a number of  studies which show just how important it is that children get into good habits at an early age when it comes to looking after their mouth.
