Indeed - pathetic reporting standards.

The areas referred to have flooded in recent times and people have lost everything with their dignity. It is about time the local rivers were dredged to avoid further hardship.

It is only fair that now that the warning has been given, those likely to be affected by this weather take steps to protect their property and themselves.

Sand bags can be purchased in advance and filled and sewed up, items moved upstairs, unless of course you are in a bungalow and generally be safe and sensible. For example do not ride through the water on a bicycle or get a rotten old canoe out like you often see on news reports. Well done Met Office for doing something correct for a change.
