The mother of a teenage girl who has gone missing with her friend is calling on the police to do more to help find her daughter.

Shadia Browne, 15 and Franchesca Nti, 14, were last seen together on Friday in Leyton.

Shadia's mother Silvia Browne, 47, is pleading with police to put more resources into tracking the girls.

Franchesca has her phone with her and is intermittedly switched on.

Her worried mother, of Duncan Road in Leyton, has asked the police on two occasions to track the whereabouts of the girls, who are understood to be together.

"The day after they went missing, I asked the police to track them using Franchesca's mobile phone. They said they couldn't," she said.

"I want the police to do more to find my daughter and Elizabeth's daughter.

"I am very worried. I would like her to come home, there is no reason why she would go missing.

Pleading directly to her daughter, she said: "I love you and I have told you that many times."

The last time both parent's saw their daughters was on Friday morning when they left for George Mitchell School in Farmer Road, Leyton.

Deputy headteacher Claire Kirwin has confirmed the girls were at school on Friday and has declined to comment further.

Shadia, the second youngest of five siblings, lives with her mother, brothers and sisters in Duncan Road, Leyton.

It is understood this is the third time the two friends have gone missing in less than three months.

Franchesca's mother, Elizabeth Adjei, 37, of Church Road in Leyton, has been looking for her daughter with Ms Browne in the borough and in Hackney.

In a direct plea to her daughter, she said: "I want you to come home, we are one family and we all miss you and love you so much.

"Everyone is worrying about you, we just want you to let us know you're safe and come home."

It is understood one of the girls posted an image of them both together on Instagram on Sunday, but police have not used this to track the girls.

A spokeswoman for the police has confirmed "lines of enquiries" are being followed up.

The girls are described as black and approximately 5ft 6ins.

Shadia and Franchesca were both wearing school uniforms the day they went missing, but could have taken a change of clothes.

Police say there is a possibility the girls could be in Hackney or Tottenham.
