The fight for equal rights of same sex couples in Redbridge will be archived in a project by the council with events throughout this month.

Being Civil in Redbridge will document personal accounts of campaigns and demonstrations by the members of the LGBT community in the area.

The events are free and will take place from 6.30pm to 7.30pm on Monday February 10 at Gants Hill library, Tuesday February 11 at Ilford Central library, and Wednesday February 19 at South Woodford library.

The East London People’s Archive currently holds around 1,800 oral history interviews and more than 24,000 photographs about London’s diverse communities.
