A cyclist suffered head injuries after being hit by a car yesterday morning.

The incident took place at 11.15 in Whitehall Road, Chingford.

The 20-year-old man was hit by a Peugeot 206 while crossing a zebra crossing.

Police and ambulance services arrived at the scene and the man was taken to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel with head injuries.

Whitehall Road was closed in both directions between Friday Hill and Kimberley Road for nearly two hours.

Police say the man's injuries are deemed non-life threatening and no arrests have been made.
