Police have descended on the A104 in Buckhurst Hill as they try to calm a man down who has been throwing tools into the road

East London and West Essex Guardian Series: Police have closed the A104 Police have closed the A104

Police have closed a road after a man was seen throwing tools towards traffic.

Officers on the ground and a helicopter unit are currently attempting to calm the distressed man, who threw objects into the A104 Epping New Road.

The man, who parked his van between the Robin Hood roundabout and Ranger's Road in Chingford, contacted the police himself and was said to be severely distressed following what is thought to be a domestic dispute.

Police have now closed the area as they try to deal with the situation.

A police spokesman said: “We were contacted by a man shortly after midday, who a short time later, began throwing a number of tools forcing police to close the road.

“Essex police is liaising with the man’s family.”

The man, who is in his 40s and from the Chingford area, is believed to be speaking to officers about the circumstances which led to his actions.

An air unit is being used to monitor his movements.

I suppose it should be of no surprise that anyone capable of such crass and offensive comment on this story would hide under the metaphoric rock of a pseudonym. Nevertheless, this particular posting reaches an all-time low. This incident has clearly arisen from circumstances that we can only guess at, involving people about which we know little but that has certainly led to a potentially tragic outcome. To comment on the mental state of the clearly deeply distressed individual at the centre of the situation in some pathetic attempt to dismiss it as a cheap excuse for a gloating one-liner is beneath contempt. What rich vein of bigoted, insulting and mind-numbing “humour” will be allowed to be dredged up next by this cowardly individual, who lacks even the courage to use his/her own name, before they are finally blocked by this site.

Not to mention this particular excuse for a human accused me of disrespectful posting under a story about mental health services only two weeks ago. He had already used two of his pseudonyms before my comment.

This site has no interest in preventing his disgusting posts. But hey why should they since many of the stories that pass for journalism here are just excuses to bash immigrants, and equally disgusting?

Nice to hear that you are back. I was worried about you. I did not mean to offend anyone, apologise if I did. Sorry.

Before you get off the high horse, can you also please condemn the use of the word 'moron' by many contributors on the site please (I have never used such).

Pot calling kettle back comes to mind.
