A man arrested after allegedly throwing tools into the road is currently in hospital over concerns about his mental health.
The 46-year-old from the Chingford was held yesterday on suspicion of making threats to kill following the incident in Epping New Road yesterday.
Police were called at around midday and found the man in a distressed state after what is believed to be a domestic dispute.
Officers later closed the road between Wakes Arms Roundabout and the junction with Rangers Road.
The man is currently being treated at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow.
The road was reopened at around 7.30pm.
