Rubbish dumped in the middle of the road on Friday was not cleared until Monday.
The waste in plastic bags was fly-tipped in the centre of Chalgrove Crescent, Clayhall, and reported to Redbridge Council via its website.
However, the report was not picked up until Monday, when the rubbish was cleared.
Alan Howe, of the Barkingside 21 group, said: “It was a mystery really.
“Fly-tipping usually happens in alleyways so it was astonishing and unusual for it to be in the middle of a residential road.”
