Fly-tip in road left over weekend

East London and West Essex Guardian Series: The rubbish left in the road over the weekend The rubbish left in the road over the weekend

Rubbish dumped in the middle of the road on Friday was not cleared until Monday.

The waste in plastic bags was fly-tipped in the centre of Chalgrove Crescent, Clayhall, and reported to Redbridge Council via its website.

However, the report was not picked up until Monday, when the rubbish was cleared.

Alan Howe, of the Barkingside 21 group, said: “It was a mystery really.

“Fly-tipping usually happens in alleyways so it was astonishing and unusual for it to be in the middle of a residential road.”

If the culprits are caught and convicted, then lock them in the stocks for a week.

It is hardly a load of dumped rubbish compared to other cases. If it was such a hazard why did the complainants not In an act of public spirit move it to the side?

Unfortunately, unlike Council Traffic Wardens, the Refuse Collectors do not appear to drop from the sky.

The member of the public concerned did exactly what you are suggesting. Happy now?

I am quite indifferent as do not reside there but would have done the same.
Was probably in centre of the road as vans drive down the road with someone in back chucking it out. I have seen it for myself and reported it but nothing appears to be done.

If you obtain the vehicle registration and are prepared to give evidence in court then I'm sure the council would be prepared to prosecute.

I had given my details and photograph of the vehicle concerned but they said that their enquiries revealed that the van was unregistered with the new keeper. I will persevere, thanks.
