Two burglars were caught red-handed as they raided a hair and beauty salon.

Police were called to Black & White Salon in High Road, Leytonstone, in the early hours of Saturday following reports of a burglary.

Jermaine Sean Lake, 24, of Birch Grove in Leytonstone, and Samual Boateng, 34, of no fixed address, were found inside the salon with £1000 stolen cash and arrested.

The pair appeared at Thames Magistrates Court on Monday charged with burglary.

Both men pleaded guilty to the offence and Boateng, who was said to be a prolific burglar, was jailed for six months after he requested to be sentenced on Monday.

Lake has been remanded on bail and is due to be sentenced at Thames Magistrates Court on February 13.

The hair and beauty salon has been contacted by the Guardian for a comment.
