Children at a Leytonstone nursery enjoyed poems and stories yesterday as part of National Storytelling Week.

Whipps Cross Busy Bees Nursery, in Whipps Cross Road, hosted a local storyteller and poet to share tales with the youngsters.

Jane Grell told stories and sung songs drawing on the Afro-Caribbean oral tradition of her childhood.

National Story Telling Week, now in its 14th year, runs until Saturday and encourages communities to share the values of oral storytelling by creating and telling stories among themselves.
