Street lights in Essex will be kept on tonight to maximise safe road conditions

Police have issued further warnings to motorists across Essex as dangerous road conditions persist in some areas due to flooding.

All street lights were kept on last night and will be lit through the night tonight as further rain is expected to fall across the county.

Drivers are advised to avoid attempting to drive through fast-moving water and to test the depth of standing water before crossing.

In Suffolk country roads there are floods and no lights.

There are street lights all along Long Melford Road, with houses that back onto the flood meadows. Sudbury and built up areas all have street lights and do not participate in part lighting.
