A property developer has had no response from the Redbridge council on a pending planning application despite sending the authority over 60 emails and letters, it is claimed.
Bali Singh-Digpaul submitted a controversial application in September for a three-storey shopping arcade and neighbouring flats in High Street, Wanstead.
The application has faced opposition from community group the Wanstead Society, as well as various residents who claim Mr Singh-Digpaul plans are not sympathetic with the area.
Mr Singh-Digpaul was due to receive a decision two months ago, but has now been told the application could go to the Planning Inspectorate for a final decision, which could take up to another three months.
Mr Singh-Digpaul believes delays such as these will put off other developers.
He said: “Other people are going to be put off applying for planning permission if it takes this long to get any kind of response.
“My proposal is a non-starter at the moment and the delay has cost me greatly.”
The Guardian is awaiting comment from the council.
