A cyclist remains in a critical condition after his bike was involved in a collision with a car this morning.

The man, thought to be in his 50s, was taken to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, after the accident on Charlie Brown’s roundabout in South Woodford at around 10.20am.

He suffered head injuries which police say are “life-threatening”.

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of careless driving.

Last month Transport for London approved plans for crossings and traffic lights to be installed at the roundabout following a series of accidents.

There's no need for call for traffic lights as the council confirmed a couple of months ago that they are going to install lights and crossings here before this accident.

As a cyclist and motorist who lives on Chigwell Road and has to deal with trying to cross this roundabout regularly all I can say is that it is LONG overdue.

The whole junction is a death trap for those on foot

This is a perilous roundabout for cyclists and all and it is about time traffic lights were instaLled like at the Green Mile to give the person a chance if on a bike.
