A businesswoman who runs a children’s clothes store has won an award.

Suzanne Bennett, 45, who owns Sid and Evie’s in George Lane, South Woodford, won the award in the Best Business Contribution to the Community category at the Mayor’s Community Awards yesterday.

As well as the shop, Mrs Bennett also started the Shop Local campaign in South Woodford in November 2011.

She said: “The shop is really community-based and we are proud to be part of the community and we have always got time for families in the area as this is a family business with free events such as face painting we organised last November.

“The business has really grown, there are many new customers who have started coming to the store and I have seen some regular customers’ children really grow up in the years we have been here.”
