The 47-year-old was held after a crash at Charlie Brown’s roundabout in South Woodford at 10.20am yesterday.
The 53-year-old male cyclist was initially said to have suffered ‘life-threatening’ head injuries and is now in a stable condition.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash on the busy route.
Anyone with information is asked to call 0208 597 4874.
The arrested driver is due to answer bail in late April.
It is the second serious accident involving a cyclist in Redbridge in recent days.
A 52-year-old man was the first cyclist to die on London’s roads when he was hit by a car on the junction of High Road, Woodford Green, and Forest Approach at 1.30pm on Sunday.
No arrests have been made.
