A cyclist who was killed in a collision has been identified as a 52-year-old CCTV operator.

Kevin Lane, from Rainham, Essex, died after being involved in a collision with a car at the junction of High Road, Woodford Green at 1.30pm on Sunday.

He was the first London cyclist to be killed this year.

Mr Lane worked as a CCTV operator at bus depot company Go-ahead, in Northumberland Park, Tottenham, who confirmed his identity to the Guardian.

David Cutts, operations director at Go-Ahead, said: “We were shocked and saddened to learn of the death of our employee.

"He had worked for the company for 13 years and was a regular cyclist who loved the sport.

"He will be missed by his colleagues and our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.”

Police have not yet confirmed his identity.

The driver of the car, believed to be an elderly woman, stopped at the crash but no arrests have been made.
