A man found to be cultivating cannabis in his home has been cautioned after he claimed the drug was being used to alleviate the symptoms of cancer.
Police were called to a flat in Seetha House, High Road, Ilford, after an estate agent alerted them to a strong smell of cannabis in the building on February 3.
A 58-year-old man entered the property during the raid and was arrested for production of cannabis.
He was later let off with a caution.
Officers found four cannabis plants with lights and extractors.
