A man who attacked a woman and harrased her by calling her 42 times in five days has been ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work.

David Lawrence, 43, of Flaxen Road in Chingford, admitted to harassing and assaulting Louise Burns, as well as destroying her landline telephone and a door.

He was also handed a restraining order and made to pay costs of £410.

He called her 42 times in five days during June last year and assaulted her between April 1 and May 30.

He was sentenced on Friday at Harlow Magistrates’ Court.
