Nicholas Georgiou is will appear at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court
A man arrested at gunpoint yesterday has been charged with blackmail and threatening someone with an imitation gun.
Nicholas Georgiou, 35, of Burnham Road in Chingford, was arrested by armed police in Brooker Road, Waltham Abbey, shortly before 4pm yesterday.
He is accused of visiting an address in Waltham Abbey and threatening someone in an attempt to get money yesterday morning.
He is also charged with possessing cannabis.
Officers were seen pointing their weapons at Mr Georgiou after two police cars and one unmarked car stopped the grey van he was driving.
He is due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court.
