The woman who plunged to her death from a footbridge over the North Circular was a 30-year-old from Haringey, police have revealed.

The woman appeared to throw herself on to the dual carriageway in Chingford, between the Crooked Billet Roundabout and the Cooks Ferry Interchange, shortly after 2pm on Monday.

Floral tributes have been left on the footbridge.

One note read: “Little darling, why was things so bad? I'm sure you are loved so much. Sleep peacefully. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family'.

Another message left said: 'RIP Angel, Hope you're in a better place now. Rest in peace, sweet dreams. God Bless.'

Emergency services including an air ambulance were called to the scene at 14:27pm on Monday and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Scotland Yard is expected to reveal more details, including the identity of the woman, in the next few hours.
