The designer who worked on the renovation of the so-called 'wedding cake' spire will speak at a history event today.
John Smith will discuss the history of St Bride's Church in Fleet Street with the Wanstead Historical Society at Wanstead Library.
The spire, which has a distinctive stacked structure, was designed by Sir Christopher Wren in 1667, but was damaged by bombs in 1940 and pieces of stone have been falling from the spire in recent years.
The renovation work was completed in November last year.
The talk will start at 8pm, costing £3.
