Disused substation in Buckhurst Hill could be converted into flats

East London and West Essex Guardian Series: Proposed building Proposed building

A disused London underground substation could be turned into flats.

Planning officers at Epping Forest District Council have recommended the approval of a proposal to convert the building in Station Way, Buckhurst Hill, into nine one-bedroom and two two-bedroom homes.

Previous plans from the developer, Greenplace Capital Ltd, were refused on the grounds that the proposed building was too bulky and insufficient parking.

The new plans would see a smaller property erected with 12 car parking spaces.

The pans willl be considered by members of the Planning Subcommittee South on March 5 at Roding Valley High School in Brook Road, Loughton, at 7.30pm.

This is totally out of keeping with the area. It takes no account of the parking review currently going on, uses out of date data and no attempt by developers to consult residents on this. It is over development!!

Will doctors' surgeries, schools, roads, Central Line also be upgraded?

How long before National Grid announce they need to limit electricity use or build another substation due to increased demand?

The way this has been printed it all sounds very nice, but the details are incorrect, the build is going to be 9x 2beds and 2x1 bed flats, BIG difference !!
also there is a very large group of local residents opposing this for a number of reason. I cant see any benefit to the local area it all down to greed !
