Redbridge Police chased the suspect over a mile before he was arrested.
A thief who was chased by police for more than a mile after he snatched a woman’s phone has been let off with a caution.
The victim was walking in Cranbrook Road in Ilford at 5pm on February 17 when the man grabbed her phone.
Police were called to the scene and chased the thief to Maple Leaf Gardens.
The man was later released with a caution.
Police offered no explanation as to why he was not put before the courts.
