Two people have been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a crash.
Police were called to Epping New Road, near Epping, at around 6.15am to reports of a collision.
Two vehicles were involved in the accident between between the Wakes Arms roundabout and the Upshire turning, Crown Hill.
One of the vehicles involved is believed to be a Fiat 500. The second vehcicle left the road during the crash.
A total of four people were cut free from the cars by firefighters.
The road remains closed for police investigations and recovery.
Diversions have led to serious congestion in the Theydon Bois and Epping areas.
The families of those involved are yet to be informed and no more information about the injuries has been released.
