A nursery which is challenging the findings of a critical Ofsted inspection has been described by parents as ‘amazing’.

Last week, a report published by the education watchdog found Valley Hill Nursery, Pre-School and Kid's Club in Loughton to be ‘inadequate’ .

Parents and staff at the centre however reject claims that it is below standards and have spoken out in gavour owner Keiley Pedro.

Kim Bennet, 27, says she was shocked by the report and praised the nursery for the support it has given her son.

Warren. 7,  who has behavioural issues, has previously struggled to build relationships with nursery staff.

Ms Bennet said: “I travel from Woodford to take my kids there.

“It is an amazing place and Keiley is great at what she does.

“Warren loves the staff there. If he’s had a bad day they will phone to make sure he is ok afterwards and make sure that I am ok.

“I have tried him with quite a few babysitters and kids clubs but he has only ever settled here.

“The report is totally wrong.”

Keiley Pedro, who opened the centre 10 months ago, is challenging Ofsted's findings.

She said: “I have put in a complaint.

“I feel like we have been hung, drawn and quartered before a fair trial.

“I was not there on the day of the inspection but my staff were not happy with it.

“There are things in it that are totally wrong.”

“I was a primary school teacher for ten years. I am in this because I care about children.”

The latest report found the nursery, based at The Football Academy in Langston Road, is not meeting safeguarding standards.

Lisa Paisley, lead inspector, said that staff had “poor understanding” of how to manage children's behaviour and staff attendance records are not accurate.

The quality of the building was also questioned.

The centre, which opened in summer 2013 and cares for children up to the age of 17, has been ordered to make improvements.
