Students at the borough's largest college have been given an insight into US politics by one of President Obama's top diplomats.
Matthew Barzun, the US Ambassador to London, visited the college in Forest Road, Walthamstow, yesterday afternoon to debate a range of issues raised by the students.
Up for discussion was US gun crime, gay marriage, renewable energy sources, and the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.
Mr Barzun, a first-time diplomat, was visiting the college as part of a tour of schools, colleges and universities across the country.
When asked about his relationship with Mr Obama, he said: "When he gave me this job I asked President Obama what advice he would have for a first time diplomat.
"He said ‘listen’ and that was really good advice."
