A society is celebrating the 450th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s birth by holding a talk on a 19th century local scholar who dedicated his life to the playwright.

Historian Georgina Green will lead the Wanstead Historical Society talk at Wanstead Library on March 20 from 8pm.

It will explore the work of Shakespearean scholar Dr Clement Mansfield Ingleby, who lived in Ilford from 1859 to 1886.

As well as various essays and contributions to several publications, Dr Ingleby published 12 books about Shakespeare.
