A school took part in World Book Day with a parade in full fancy dress today.
Students and teachers of Nightingale Primary School, Ashbourne Avenue, South Woodford, dressed up as their favourite book character for a parade in the playground which was watched by parents.
Children have been taking part in events throughout the week including a book swap with other schools, special book classes, and a visit from author Mo O’Hara, who wrote the My Big FatZombie Goldfish series, published by Macmillan.
Elizabeth Barrett, headteacher at Nightingale Primary School, said: “We have been so lucky with the weather today, it is a great occasion which we do every year. Everyone gets involved including the teachers and it is great fun.”
Sarah Oshodi, English co-ordinator at the school, said: “We really celebrate World Book Day here and the events have been a real success.
"The school has worked really hard to put on these events, it’s to encourage them to read new books and the children love it.”
